One the other hand, parking at hotels is no longer free across the board, and several of the big-name spots now charge parking fees.     Lastly, when all else fails, there’s always the rail: the Monorail, that is. Get onto and off of the strip with the nearby Monorail, which runs until 2 AM, weeknights, and 3 AM on weekends. The train runs along seven stops in a loop from the SLS to the MGM Grand, with $5 tickets for single rides. Get a day pass for $12 to save even more.

    For a city as big as Las Vegas, you’d better believe some of the best food is going to be out of the way. Stick to The Strip if you want to, but Chinatown has some of the best Asian restaurants you’ll find in the state.

    The High Roller Ferris wheel is 550 feet tall and 520 feet in diameter. There are 2,000 LED lights that display thousands of colors, and it takes about 30 minutes to make a full rotation. Tickets to this Ferris wheel are $20.50 for an adult and $7.50 for youth during the day. If you want to go at night and experience the bright colors of the lights the prices are $32.75 for an adult and $16.50 for youth. 

    Paris Hotel and the Eiffel Tower

    The Eiffel Tower in Las Vegas is located at the Paris Hotel and Casino. It is a half-scale replica of the original Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, as it’s approximately 540 feet tall. There’s a lofty observation deck at 460 feet if you are brave enough to face the height. To add to the fun, the elevator to the observation deck is made out of glass. The observation deck is open daily with hours from 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Tickets can be purchased at the box office, and prices differ depending on the day and time you’d like to go. 

    Stratosphere Tower

    This tower is not only the tallest building in Las Vegas but also the tallest free-standing observation tower in the United States. The observation deck stands at 1,149 feet in the air. And if you are brave enough, you can ride the Big Shot Drop Tower. This ride will spin you in a circle around the building and then drop, making you feel as if you’ve just jumped off the building. You can also ride the X-Scream. This ride is a bit different. As you sit in a row of people, it tilts you off the side of the building, reminding you how high up you actually are, and then shoots you forward. Ticket prices for both rides differ depending on how many people are in your group and what day and time you decide to go. 

    Fremont Street Experience

    This attraction is a one-of-a-kind experience as the entire street is covered with a canopy, that they use for light shows, 90 feet in the air! There are free concerts held by local bands and musicians on three different stages along the street. The street also features a zipline attraction. Freemont Street is also home to the first hotel in Vegas. The hotel first opened as Hotel Nevada in 1906 and is now known as Golden Gate. 

    The Venetian Las Vegas

    With 7,000 suites, this is the largest hotel in the world. But what really makes this hotel unique is the Grand Canal. This canal holds 843,000 gallons of water, and as it tries to create the perfect Italian scene. You can take a gondola ride down the Grand Canal and float through Las Vegas’s own little Italy beneath bridges and balconies, and beside cafes. Tickets range between $29.00 -$36.00 a person depending on what day you decide to go. 

    The Mirage

    When The Mirage opened, it was the most expensive hotel casino ever built, costing of $630 million. It has over 3,000 rooms and also has major headline attractions such as The Beatles: LOVE. It also has some of the best signature attractions with the Volcano, Dolphin Habitat, and The Secret Garden.     New York- New York Hotel and Casino

    This hotel can be found on the Las Vegas Strip and is themed after New York City, New York. It houses the Big Apple Coaster that travels outside and inside the hotel.     Walt Disney World COVID-19 Safety Measures and Reopening

    Orlando’s world-famous Walt Disney World Resort is back and open for business! “The Happiest Place on Earth” recently reopened its doors to the public. And it did so despite concerns about the global COVID-19 pandemic, with full plans for safety across all parks.

    Following a reopening announcement in late May, the park put plans in place to reopen to the public in phases. As cases of COVID-19 continue to roll in across Florida, the most important part of this reopening was safety. Coming back with a comprehensive set of safety guidelines to help ensure the safety of everyone involved.

    Join us, today, as we break down the Walt Disney World COVID safety precautions and their reopening.

    Safety Measures

    As the world fights against COVID-19, the first question is: “How are you going to protect us against this virus?”

    Let’s start with the basics: 

    Mandatory Face Coverings

    The park has made face coverings mandatory for any person aged 2 and up. These must be worn at all times except for when dining or swimming. Cast members will also be required to wear these masks. The official regulations for your mask can be found here and guests are encouraged to check these before arriving at the park itself.

    Masks, when combined with social distancing, have been shown to greatly reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission in groups of people.

    Temperature Screenings

    Another step the park is taking is temperature screenings across its locations. No-touch thermometers are used to screen guests arriving at Disney Springs and the Walt Disney World locations, specifically. Anybody with a temperature of 100.4 ? F will be redirected away for follow up screenings and further assistance. They will also not be allowed entry and neither will anybody else in their party.

    Guests traveling long distances should check their own temperatures before leaving in order to avoid potential disappointment.

    Cashless Spending

    During the reopening, guests are being encouraged to use cashless payments to help minimize their risk of infections. Debit, credit, and Disney Gift Cards are all good options. Contactless payments are also available, in the form of mobile wallets, and the park’s MagicBands can also be used to charge park expenses to the guest’s hotel folio. All of this helps to protect against the transmission of the disease across surfaces, keeping guests safer during their visit.

    Guests can also use the My Disney Experience app to make advance mobile orders and book dinner ahead of arriving at any given restaurant.

    Walt Disney World COVID Safety: How It’s Going, So Far

    Over the weekend, Disney reopened two of its six Florida parks to members of the public, just under four months after the resort shut its doors initially. The parks opened at limited capacity, with the above checking and safety measures in place to help keep everything within recommended guidelines. The park also installed plexiglass partitions in all shops and restaurants, with 4,000 hand-sanitizing stations, as well.

    And guests in attendance have lapped up the opportunity to have fun in the Magical Kingdom. Even with limited numbers of people in attendance, the park’s new measures saw people back in attendance for the first time in months. Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney’s parks, said: “This is the new world that we’re operating in, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

    Even with concerns over the new spread of the virus across Florida, the park’s move to embrace COVID precautions has led to an influx of attendees, eager for some family-friendly fun in the sun.

    What NOT to Do In Vegas

    Don’t Fall For The Hustlers

    Las Vegas is one of “those” cities. The lights, the buzz, the excitement. It seems like anything can happen here, and there are tons of other people looking to capitalize on that.

    Some of them can be downright inspiring, leading off-strip tours or opening up their own stores. Others, meanwhile, try to take advantage of tourists who don’t know any better. It’s nothing against the city – if anything it almost feels like the price you’ve got to pay to be in the most magical city in the world.

    But don’t, under any circumstances, let them get you. If someone approaches you with a demo CD in their hands, telling you it’s free, just avoid eye contact and keep walking until they get the idea. Someone tells you they’re a cab driver bu their car is unmarked, don’t get in that car. 

    Try as much as you can to use common sense. Vegas can be disorienting, but you don’t have to pay out the nose for being disoriented. 

    Don’t Jaywalk

    This may sound obvious to many of you, but never jaywalk in Las Vegas. In many other big cities, there’s no real problem with this, but it is a big no no in Sin City,

    There are two major motivators for this. Firstly, pedestrians get knocked over and killed in Las Vegas at an alarming rate. Between 2008 and 2017, roughly 601 people were killed in this manner in Nevada, with the majority of these cases being in Clark County. Break that down annually and you get around 60 people per year. 

    The second reason leads on from the first: local law enforcement has responded to these deaths with strict policing of jaywalking in these areas. Get caught by the cops, and you can expect a fine of upwards of $200, which would really be better spent in a casino somewhere than going into the police department’s hands, right?

    Don’t Be That Guy or Girl

    Our last tip is more of a personal piece of advice, but it’s important to keep your wits about you in the city. Sure, go out and have an amazing time. Do things you never thought you’d do and enjoy the sites and sounds of this Christmas tree ornament of a city. 

    But remember this: you will have markedly less fun if you lose your wallet on your first night in town. Your friends won’t be as keen to invite you out if you misplace your room key as soon as you get in. And you may think you’re within your rights to get into a fight over something at a bar, but most times, it’s probably best to just let it go.

    In short: don’t be that guy or girl. The one who embarrasses people or makes more work for them or yourself than it’s worth. Remember you’re here to have fun. And the best way to do that is to be at least a little responsible.

    What NOT to Do In Vegas

    Three Of The Most Important Las Vegas Local Tips To Know

    Vegas isn’t like a lot of other cities. That’s not hyperbole, either: Sin City is basically a tiny ecosystem, unto itself, full of bustling activity and vibrant people from all over the world. It’s also hot. All the time. And many visitors will arrive completely unprepared for that heat, which can ruin their trips in many cases.

    Here are three of the most important tips most locals would like you to know before arriving in Las Vegas:

    • Drink more water than you imagine you need. Then drink a little more than that. Dehydration doesn’t feel like anything, creeping on, but visitors may get intensely sick as a result (and it certainly doesn’t help a hangover after a big night out, either).
    • The valley is laid out in a grid pattern, and locals refer to places by intersections almost as a rule. 
    • There are parts of Vegas that are completely normal. Even the big touristy parts can get pretty quiet outside of tourist season. Yes, Vegas makes its money off of visiting tourists, but it’s also a normal suburban city, and locals deserve your consideration.

    Right, now that we’ve gotten all that out the way, let’s take it to the Strip.

    Center Strip

    Didn’t know its full name was the “Center Strip”? Boom! That’s the difference a local guide can make. Thanks for your time, we’ll see you in the next article.

    Kidding, of course. But it has to be said that nowhere within the Sin City limits are you going to find more action than right here on the world-famous Strip. The sights. The sounds. An Elvis impersonator on every corner and a corner store slot machine wherever your eye happens to be looking at that point in time. It’s a hell of a town, and it all starts right here in the center. 

    Plus, it’s not like it’s hard to get to. The entire valley is built around it, after all, so wherever you are, you can always find your way back pretty easily. 

    And what is there to do out on the Strip, anyway? Some of the most exciting parts of the entire city are home right here. The upgraded Park MGM hotel (formerly the Monte Carlo), with guest appearance by the NoMad mini-hotel as you ascend its floors. The Waldorf Astoria. The Cosmopolitan hotel, home to some of the best restaurants anywhere in the city.

    We’re not saying to spend your entire trip out on the strip. It can be costly, it can be tiring, and it might not be your cup of tea. But, if you pass through Vegas without ever even visiting the Vegas Strip at all, you’re doing yourself a disservice. 

    Downtown

    Not to make any assumptions, but did you even know Las Vegas had a downtown area? Locals do, and it’s one of their favorite options to hang out in when the sun goes down but they want to avoid the craziness of the strip proper. 

    The area is set apart from the hustle and bustle of places like Fremont Street, but has a life all of its own, being in close proximity to the Arts District and Fremont East. Chill out at one of the many rooftop pools in the area, overlooking the lights and cars of the city below as a DJ takes to the tables for a sunset session.

    Bliss.

    Know Your Teams: The Golden Knights

    Las Vegas locals love their home team, the Knights. As the city’s first professional sports franchise, this hockey club represents the entire city’s validation for one specific thing: being “more than just a tourist destination”.  

    Want to make friends in Vegas during your trip?  The smart Las Vegas local tips money is on complementing their sports teams. Take in a beer at one of the nearby bars to the Park, enjoy some of the live music at Toshiba Plaza, and strike up a conversation with someone about the Golden Knights.     Bring Your Own Water (and Stay Out of the Sun)

    Bring your own bottled water. Seriously. Every year, the Strip comes alive with the sound of tourists complaining about the price of bottled water and how nobody warned them before they arrived.

    So, consider this your warning. Bottled water on the Strip has been known to be outrageously priced, on the best of days. It’s a seller’s market, as the hot weather and popularity of the area equate to huge crowds of people sweating in the sun and slowly dehydrating. There’s a need, and the stores and vendors know that, so they will charge whatever they like and get paid for fulfilling that need.

    This is Nevada. It is extremely hot in the summer, in addition to being very dry. If you’re being safe (and please, be safe), you’re drinking water. The question is: were you prepared enough to bring it from home, or are you going to make somebody rich today.

    As an extra note: make sure to stay out of the sun between 12 PM and 5 PM, as much as possible, as it can be brutal on your skin and may even lead to heatstroke in some.

    Shop For A Bargain

    Worried about how expensive everything is? This is Vegas: somebody somewhere wants to make you a deal. It’s just up to you to go shopping.

    Groupon deals work wonders for getting discounts on any shows you might want to see. Timeshare providers (*ahem*) can get you much better deals on accommodation and entertainment packages, as well.

    Don’t be afraid to ask about specials, happy hours, coupons, tickets, and any other discounted rate you might think of. It’s a big city with a lot going on, and they want you to see it all, so there’s a good chance you’ll find the deal you’re looking for.

    A Friendly Word

    Be kind. It’s not just good life advice, it will literally get you into places you didn’t expect in Vegas. Let us explain. Especially during the non-holiday season, when the hotels are less booked up and the casino floors are emptier, managers are looking for opportunities to create repeat business. 

    What does this mean for you? The opportunity to get wined and dined, if you’ve got the right attitude. Stand out from the crowd for the right reasons (ie. your sparkling personality and gratitude) and you’ll make an impression. During check-in, dress well and make sure to be as pleasant and polite as possible.

    Complement the room. Complement the hotel. Tell them it’s your first time, even if it’s maybe your third. It’s not a hard and fast rule, but it also works almost all the time. If not an entire room upgrade, you might get better service during turndown or tickets to a show, on the house. 

    These are resources the hotels have on-hand because of where they work. They want to give them away to someone. You could be that someone.
